BLM + Election

September 23, 2016 by

I want to be writing about the natural world, the harvest, or maybe the Earth’s orbit, the solar and lunar apparent motions in our sky. But instead all I can think about is American politics, and the blood that has recently been so carelessly spilled.

Upcoming Events | Samhain: Quiet Reflection with our Ancestors | Tenders of the Earth Temple

We stand in the circle and each person invites a spirit to come through the gate and join us in our Samhain rite. A bell is rung after and a candle is lit after each invitation.

We raise energy through chant. We sit quietly and wait for messages from the ancestors. Tarot cards, runes and a scrying bowl have been placed on the alter for anyone who wishes to use them. At the appropriate time, anyone who wishes to speak will be permitted to do so.

Who’s Responsible for Speaking Out Against the AFA | Lamp & Labyrinth | The Agora |

I am not currently sure if the Asatru Folk Assembly (AFA) identifies with the term “reconstructionist Pagan,” but they are clearly using reconstructionist methods. So, when groups like the AFA says what they said in their recent post, combining their Pagan methodology with racist and purist ideals, who inimical to them is the most responsible for speaking out against it? Who is responsible for bringing it up and expressing disapproval? While you might think it everyone’s responsibility, and while that is absolutely true, I think that the leadership and influencers of reconstructionist groups should be the key responders to stuff like this.

Pagan Solidarity with Standing Rock – Action Network

We, the undersigned groups and individuals of the Reclaiming Tradition and other Pagan Traditions, stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Nation, the Lakota people, and all Indigenous Peoples who are fighting to preserve and protect their homes and lands. We stand in solidarity with all who declare these things sacred: clean water and air, verdant forests, meadows, prairies and wetlands, and ways of life that honor people over profit.
