DNC Prayer Circle Hosts: Interfaith Prayer Circle for Peace, Unity, and Justice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DNC Prayer Circle hosts, Vanette Jordan-Lumogo and Xelba Gutierrez, will present The Interfaith Prayer Circle for Peace, Unity, and Justice, taking place at Thomas Paine Plaza on 1401 JFK Blvd on July 25th – 28th starting at 8:30 am and ending by 9:00am. Clergy and faith leaders from various communities will come together and each will lead us in 2-3 minutes of prayer until 9:00 am every day.

At the end of the first day, July 25th, Prayer Circle participants will have a sky lantern launch where we will release multiple, colored lanterns, filled with our prayers and wishes, up into the Philadelphia sky, making it a visually beautiful moment of unity.

We are hosting these Prayer Circles because we believe the work that the delegates will do inside for the DNC, and the work that the demonstrators will do on the streets of Philadelphia, are both worthy of spiritual support. We also believe this city and this world are in need of spiritual healing. With this in mind we will come together, men, women, and children, across all denominations and beliefs, from all races and culture, and all political affiliations, to offer multiple types of prayers including chanting and silent prayer for this work, this city, and our world.

The DNC will be in town and there will be a lot of people, activities, and harsh energy going around. We would like to invite everyone to participate in a daily Interfaith event where, together, we will lift up our hearts and minds to ask for peace, unity and justice for the work we are about to do, this city, and our world. Please join us every morning from July 25 – 28.

Each day we will have different members of the faith community lead us in prayers and chanting. Please come ready to connect your heart to the hearts of everyone around you and we hope you leave energized and balanced to tackle whatever the day brings.
