The folks gathered in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1787, were pretty darn clear in that First Amendment they signed: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Still, in the years since, plenty of smaller religious groups in the United States have had to fight loudly to make sure they actually receive the same freedom, respect and legal rights that larger religions are accustomed to enjoying. Hence the annual Philadelphia Pagan Pride Day, which returns to Clark Park in West Philly on Sat., Sept. 5 in conjunction with the nationwide Pagan Pride Project.
